Taia naticoides, also known in the hobby as the knobbly piano snail or brush algae snail, belongs to the river snail family. The conical to conical-oval shell grows up to about 3.2 cm high and 2.1 cm wide. Its sculpture consists of three spiral ridges with mostly knotty or scale-like thickenings that vary greatly in strength. The base colour is usually olive green.
