The emerald dwarf barb (Danio erythromicron) is endemic to Inle Lake in Myanmar and grows only about 2 cm long. Its base colour is blue with a scarlet sheen, with the back darker than the sides and belly.
About twelve blue vertical stripes run along the sides, and a round black spot with a pale border sits on the caudal peduncle. The gill covers are colourless and appear purple red through the gills.
