Macrobrachium assamense assamense comes from the Himalayas and grows up to 8 cm. The animals should be kept in pairs or, better, in small groups, use all areas of the aquarium and can often be seen well.
Fine gravel or sand with stone structures or roots work well as substrate; plants that are not too dense provide additional retreat spots.
