Before you order: is Corydoras hastatus - Echter Zwergpanzerwels right for your tank?
Animals and plants differ in their demands on water parameters, tank size and tank mates. Please check the details in the tabs below before you buy. If you are unsure, just get in touch before ordering — we are happy to advise.
Corydoras hastatus, the dwarf corydoras, occurs in Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay, and is imported mainly from Paraguay. It grows to a maximum of 3 cm, making it suitable for small aquariums too.
Typically for the species, the animals often stay freely swimming in a group rather than resting on the bottom. A soft substrate and group keeping are mandatory and strengthen wellbeing. It eats everything offered, especially freshly hatched artemia, frozen cyclops and grindal worms. Breeding is quite possible in a species tank; the fish show different stripe patterns depending on age.
