Caridina striata, also called the striped shrimp, comes from Lake Towuti and Lake Poso on Sulawesi and carries a striking white stripe pattern on a red background. Females reach about 28 mm, males about 24 mm; the sexes are hard to tell apart, with females looking somewhat plumper.
The animals live quite hidden and need very clean water. Combining with other species is not recommended. The comparatively large eggs hatch into already well developed young, with a clutch size of up to 15.
