Caridina holthuisi is a shrimp species from the Sulawesi lake system and, like other Sulawesi shrimp, is kept in hard, alkaline and warm water.

As with other Sulawesi shrimp, a stable pH and water chemistry matched to the natural habitat contribute significantly to the animals' wellbeing.
