Whitefin Rosy Tetra (Hyphessobrycon rosaceus "Whitefin")

The Whitefin Rosy Tetra (Hyphessobrycon rosaceus "Whitefin") is a particularly elegant breeding variant of the popular Rosy Tetra. With its delicately shimmering pink to salmon-coloured scales and its namesake, high-contrast white fin tips, this tetra adds fascinating colour accents to the freshwater aquarium.

As a distinctly peaceful shoaling fish, this species must be kept in a group. Only in a community do these fish display their natural behaviour and the interesting, impressive display posture of the males. It can be combined brilliantly with other peaceful South Americans such as dwarf cichlids, catfish or smaller tetra species.

The aquarium should have a tank length of at least 80 cm and provide plenty of open swimming space alongside densely planted border zones as retreats. The recommended care values are a water temperature of 22 to 26 °C and a pH value between 5.0 and 7.5. Lighting that is not too bright brings out the colouring of the fish particularly well.

The Whitefin Rosy Tetra is straightforward when it comes to diet. It accepts standard dry food such as flakes, granules and tabs without any problems. A regular variety with fine frozen food promotes the well-being and vitality of the fish.
