The Green Neon Tetra (Paracheirodon simulans) is one of the most popular small tetras in the aquarium hobby. These specimens are German offspring (DNZ). The brilliant blue to turquoise-blue longitudinal stripe extends over almost the entire body, creating fascinating colour accents in the tank.
As a peaceful schooling fish, the Green Neon Tetra should be kept in a group. Only in the company of its own kind do the fish display their natural behaviour and feel secure. Socialisation with other quiet species, catfishes, or dwarf shrimps is straightforward.
The aquarium should have a minimum length of 60 cm, offering densely planted areas as well as sufficient open swimming space. The species is flexible regarding water temperature, tolerating values from 22 to 30 °C, while the pH level can range between 5.0 and 8.0. A decoration of driftwood or a cover of floating plants enhances the luminous brilliance of these fish.
Feeding is simple. The Green Neon Tetra readily accepts suitable flake food, fine granules, food tablets, and fine frozen food.
